Payment & Insurance

A Letter from Dr. Tim Herre Regarding Insurance:

Dental insurance has been a wonderful asset over time but has evolved little in the past 50 years. With rising costs and inflation, it has become more difficult for you as the consumer to obtain the benefits you deserve with these plans, and they often cover only a very small percentage of your necessary treatment. We do not believe that insurance companies should dictate your level of health by determining your treatment. The choices you have should ultimately be in your hands and the decision yours to make.

That interference runs contradictory to the goals I have for each of my patients. I want my team to help guide you with the choices you have to become the best version of yourself. At the heart of that, is you, the patient and consumer, taking charge of your own wellbeing. I want nothing more than for you and your family to make informed decisions then take ownership of your choices.

With that in mind, all dental providers in our office are out-of-network with all Insurance companies. Our office will still accept your insurance and bill your plan on your behalf. However, we will be an out of network provider for all claims.

Dr. Craig has been out of network with all insurance companies for over 25 years, and well over half of our patients are out of network or do not have dental insurance at all. What we have found is many of our patients still receive great benefits and my team is well equipped at guiding you to obtain the maximum benefits possible.

Herre Holistic Dental has been providing honest and ethical care since 1953. We have 3 generations of Dentists and 3-4 generations of patients! This is a way of life for us; to provide awareness and advocate on your behalf. We hope you and your family will consider continuing your health journey with us.

Please see the FAQ Section on our website, and contact my team with any questions. We are here for you.

It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to serve you and your family.

Dr. Tim Herre

“I have dental insurance. Can I still use it at your office? ”
Just as we have filed out-of-network insurance for Dr. Craig’s patients for over two decades, we will continue to file your primary insurance on your behalf in our office. If your plan has out-of-network coverage, you will still receive these benefits as determined by your insurance plan. Please note that our patients with secondary or tertiary insurance coverage may have to self-file for these plans.
“My out-of-network insurance plan previously paid your office directly. Do I still have to pay for treatment today?”
Payment is required for all services, at the time of service. While we previously were able to receive some payments from out-of-network insurance plans because we also had an in-network provider in our office, we will no longer receive payment from these companies. Over the next year, we may still receive some payments and in these cases we will issue a prompt reimbursement to you. Thank you for your patience during the transition period.
“What types of payment do you accept at your office? ”
We offer a wide array of payment types. All major credit cards, cash, Health Savings and Flexible Savings Accounts (HSA/FSA), and automatic bank withdrawals/personal checks are all accepted forms of payment. Our team can help you with 0% interest affordable monthly payment plans for most large treatment plans, and Care Credit is also accepted.
“I do not have dental insurance. Does my medical insurance plan cover any of my treatment?”
Some procedures in our office may be covered under your medical insurance plan. We are out-of-network with all medical plans, and there is no guarantee of reimbursement. If you are interested in filing your claim to medical insurance, please ask our team for a superbill and we can provide it for procedures that have medical codes. If you also have dental insurance, you can file out-of-network claims to both medical and dental insurance for some procedures
“How will I receive my out-of-network benefits?”
As the consumer, the insurance plan will reimburse you directly via check. We encourage you to open all correspondence from your insurance provider. We will still submit the initial claims on your behalf, but please note if additional information is required by the insurance provider you must alert our office, as we may not receive this information. We are no longer a contracted provider with any dental plans.
“How will I pay for my services with you?”
Our team will ask all patients for payment at time of service. If you are scheduling for a large treatment plan with Dr. Tim or Dr. Craig, a down payment may be required to reserve your appointment time. During the transition, we may receive some insurance checks at our office location. In these instances, you will be reimbursed.
“Are discounts available?”
As a fully fee-for-service provider, we are now able to keep our pricing at affordable rates for all of our patients. We do not offer discounts, with the exception being discounts for eligible payments on large treatment plans.
“I did not make my appointment time. Will I be charged a fee? ”
Please let us know as soon as possible if you cannot make your appointment. Cancellations are required 24 hours in advance of the original appointment time. If the appointment is not canceled or rescheduled prior to that time, a no show fee may be charged to your account for the cost of your visit.
“Why are you out-of-network with dental insurance?”
We value your health, your time, and your experience with us. We also value the years of experience and expertise of our clinical providers. Making this move to an out-of-network provider will allow us to enhance all of these values in our office. Our exceptionally qualified team of providers is fully committed to your health, and we hope you are as well!

Amazing care!!! They were able to get me in when I couldn’t get in to see where my Family Dentist referred. That location referred me to Dental Health by Herre. Dr. Herre was extremely thorough and very concerned about my oral health. I would recommend this to anyone!!
